If you’re looking for an easy way to cook salmon, look no further than your toaster oven! In this blog post, we will give you a step-by-step guide on how to cook salmon in a toaster oven. It is easy to do, all you need to do is preheat your oven to 400F, place an oven-safe dish in the middle tray, coat the bottom of the dish with cooking oil, place the salmon in the dish or pan, skin-down then wait 18-20 minutes!
Salmon is a healthy and delicious protein that can be cooked in many different ways. But if you’re looking for an easy and convenient way to prepare it, cooking it in a toaster oven is one of the easiest ways to do it.
1. Step One:
Preheat your toaster oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the oven to heat up before use and means that you will have the best and most consistent cooking experience once it is ready. This also allows your food to spend as little time in the “danger zone” between frozen and cooked as possible, meaning that you are much less at risk from any bacteria.
2. Step Two:
Place an oven-safe baking dish or pan on the middle rack of your toaster oven. It is important to ensure that you have chosen an appropriate dish or pan for this purpose as some can crack or even shatter under the intense temperatures, posing a danger to the user. The middle rack of the toaster oven is perfect as it allows the air from the convection heating to swirl around and envelope the salmon, ensuring it is well cooked all of the way through.
3. Step Three:
Coat the bottom of the dish with cooking oil or spray. This is an important step as it avoids the possibility of the salmon sticking to and being cooked onto the dish or pan being used. The oil or spray will also add to the cooking process, allowing the salmon to marinate a little and generally cook better because of the increased moisture.
4. Step Four:
Place the salmon filets in the dish, skin-side down. The reason that we recommend placing the salmon skin-side down is that most people don’t eat the skin of the salmon, so it allows the part that we do eat more exposure to the heat in the air, rather than facing into the bottom of the dish or pan. It means that the salmon should be lovely and tender and will melt in the mouth by the time it is ready.
5. Step Five:
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through. Now it is just a case of waiting for the salmon to be cooked to perfection, checking every now and then to see if the meat is beginning to flake, but still retains some translucency in the center. This is how you can tell whether salmon is ready for eating or not. Once this step is completed, all that is left to do is enjoy your delicious meal!
